MLB Counters MLBPA With $245M Cap and 50-50 Revenue Split Proposal
The league's opening counter in CBA negotiations includes a hard salary cap, a salary floor, and an even revenue-sharing split with players.

MLB submitted its initial counterproposal to the MLBPA one day after the union publicly released its own opening offer. The league's proposal includes a hard salary cap of $245.3MM and a salary floor of $171.2MM, per ESPN's Jesse Rogers. The Athletic's Evan Drellich reports the league is also proposing a 50-50 revenue split, though how that coexists with fixed cap numbers remains unclear. A percentage-based model would make the cap and floor fluid, similar to how the NBA's revenue-sharing structure has worked.
