Tigers Open Weekend Series at White Sox with Melton on the Mound

Detroit, losers of seven straight series, heads to Chicago to face a White Sox team sitting second in the AL Central at two games over .500.

The Tigers lost their seventh consecutive series after going 1-2 against the Angels at home, falling back into a tie for last in the AL. They now travel to Chicago to face the White Sox, who just took three of four from the Twins. Right-hander Troy Melton gets the ball for Detroit in Game 1, coming off a strong 5.2-inning, one-run outing against Baltimore in his season debut. Melton has prior experience against Chicago, having faced them twice in 2024 as both a starter and reliever.
