Sacramento Launches Formal MLB Expansion Bid With $2B Commitment

City and regional leaders unveiled 'The Sacramento Pitch,' a structured campaign to land an MLB expansion franchise in California's capital.

The Greater Sacramento Economic Council released details of a formal MLB expansion campaign called 'The Sacramento Pitch.' The bid includes a fully entitled 50-acre stadium site and nearly $2 billion in combined public and private funding commitments. The push comes as the Athletics temporarily play at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento from 2025 to approximately 2028 before their planned move to Las Vegas. Sacramento leaders are hoping to retain a professional baseball presence in the region after the A's depart.
