Rays Outright Jon Heasley to Triple-A After Brief MLB Return
Heasley was designated for assignment one day after allowing five runs in four innings, then quickly cleared waivers and returned to Durham.
The Rays signed Heasley to a minor league deal in April and called him up just three days before his DFA. He pitched four innings in a blowout loss to the Orioles, surrendering five runs on eight hits with two home runs. Tampa Bay designated him for assignment the following day, and he cleared waivers without being claimed. Heasley cannot decline the outright assignment and will wait at Triple-A Durham for his next opportunity.
