MLB and MLBPA Open CBA Talks With First Union Proposal

The players' union submitted its opening economic proposals as both sides begin formal negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement.

MLB and the MLBPA have started preliminary CBA negotiations ahead of the current agreement's Dec. 1 expiration. The union submitted its first formal proposal, led by interim executive director Bruce Meyer. Key asks include doubling the minimum salary from $780,000 to $1.5 million starting in 2027. The union also cited goals around preserving baseball's market system and rewarding competition.
