Dominic Fletcher exercised an opt-out clause on July 1 and was subsequently released by Pittsburgh when the club declined to add him to the major league roster. After spending about two weeks as a free agent, the 28-year-old outfielder agreed to return to the Pirates on a new minor league deal. Fletcher has been productive at Triple-A Indianapolis this season, slashing .288/.379/.511 with eight home runs in 42 games. He was back in the Indianapolis lineup by Friday following the agreement.
