The Astros are releasing right-hander J.P. France, per The Athletic's Chandler Rome. France appeared in three games for Houston in April, allowing six earned runs over 6.2 innings before being designated for assignment and clearing waivers. He spent the bulk of the season at Triple-A Sugar Land, where he posted a 3.72 ERA but walked batters at a 14.8% clip. France has been with the Astros organization for four seasons, but his MLB opportunities have steadily declined since his 23-start rookie campaign in 2023.
