Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports the Marlins are likely to make acquisitions before the August 3 trade deadline. Miami is targeting upgrades at third base, in the rotation, and in the bullpen. The club also plans to retain ace Sandy Alcantara rather than trade him. The move signals a pivot away from the rebuild approach taken since Peter Bendix became president of baseball operations.
