Lou Trivino was designated for assignment by Philadelphia and subsequently elected free agency, per the MLB transaction log. He had spent roughly a month on the injured list with a thoracic muscle spasm before a brief rehab stint and technical IL activation. The Phillies chose not to reintegrate him into a bullpen that had just added Brooks Raley and Caleb Kilian. Trivino posted a 1.19 ERA in Triple-A this season but struggled in five MLB appearances, allowing 10 runs over six innings.
