Los Angeles is asking Boston to include elite shortstop prospect Franklin Arias in any deal for controllable starter Zach Neto.
The Angels have asked the Red Sox to include Franklin Arias, Boston's top prospect and a consensus top-5 player in all of baseball, as the centerpiece of a trade for shortstop Zach Neto. Arias, 20, recently reached Triple-A after posting a .318/.407/.587 line with 19 home runs at Double-A. Neto is under team control for three and a half more seasons via arbitration. The Red Sox are seeking a shortstop bridge while Arias develops and while Trevor Story and Marcelo Mayer deal with injuries.
