Luke Weaver Drawing Wide Trade Interest Ahead of Deadline
Multiple clubs including Milwaukee and Pittsburgh have shown interest in the Mets' dominant setup man, with a deal considered likely.
The Athletic's Will Sammon and Ken Rosenthal report the Brewers and Pirates are among several teams pursuing Mets reliever Luke Weaver. ESPN's Jeff Passan has indicated Weaver is expected to be moved as the Mets operate as sellers. Weaver, 32, has posted a 1.88 ERA across 41 appearances this season and is affordably under contract through 2027 at $11MM. The Pirates have a specific need for a closer after DFA'ing Dennis Santana, while the Brewers would likely use Weaver in a setup or committee role.
