The Padres have been actively discussing veteran lefty Wandy Peralta in trade talks, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Peralta, 34, holds a 2.32 ERA across 50.1 innings this season but his underlying metrics are weaker, including a below-average strikeout rate of 15.5% and a swinging-strike rate that has dropped from 12.9% last year to 9.9%. His ERA has been propped up by an unsustainably high 87.7% strand rate. He is under contract through next season on a four-year, $16.5MM deal.
