Extension discussions between Griffin and Washington fizzled quickly, per the New York Post, though that does not make a trade more likely. The team is reportedly still considering acting as a deadline buyer to some degree. Griffin signed a one-year, $5.5MM deal and has been one of the best moves of new president Paul Toboni's tenure.
