Mets starter Clay Holmes told reporters Friday that contract extension talks have not made much progress. League executives told SNY's Jim Duquette that Holmes is 'likely' to be traded before the August 3 deadline. Holmes holds a $12 million player option for 2027 that he is expected to decline, making him an expiring asset. The Mets are operating as sellers at this year's deadline.
