The Athletics officially outrighted first baseman Joey Meneses after designating him for assignment over the weekend. Because Meneses has a previous career outright on his record, he may decline the assignment and elect free agency instead. He appeared in nine games for Oakland this season after being selected from Triple-A Las Vegas in June, hitting .150 with three walks in 25 plate appearances. At Triple-A this year he has posted a .346/.396/.546 slash line with 12 home runs across 331 plate appearances.
