The Cubs officially activated Clay Holmes from the 60-day IL ahead of Saturday's game in Kansas City. Holmes fractured his fibula in mid-May when a Spencer Jones comebacker broke his leg, ending his time with the Mets. He was acquired by Chicago along with Tyrone Taylor in a deadline trade. Holmes is expected to be on a limited pitch count, topping out around 73 pitches, with Colin Rea available to piggyback.
