San Francisco sent the right-hander through waivers unclaimed and assigned him to Sacramento, one week after claiming him from Kansas City.
The Giants claimed Eric Cerantola off waivers from the Royals roughly a week ago, sent him to Triple-A Sacramento, then placed him back on waivers. He went unclaimed this time and was outrighted to Sacramento. Cerantola has never appeared in a major league game for San Francisco. The move reduces the Giants' 40-man roster to 39. Because Cerantola has fewer than three years of service time, he cannot elect free agency following the outright assignment.
