Giants Claim RHP Eric Cerantola From Royals
San Francisco adds a 26-year-old right-hander with a mid-80s slider after Kansas City designated him for assignment last week.

The Giants claimed Eric Cerantola off waivers from the Royals, who had designated him for assignment the prior week. Cerantola, 26, has just 5 1/3 big league innings to his name, posting a 10.13 ERA in that small sample. He has been assigned to Triple-A Sacramento, requiring no corresponding 40-man roster move. FanGraphs recently ranked him the No. 28 prospect in the Royals system, with evaluators high on his mid-80s slider.
