Cardinals Receive Trey Pooser From Rays to Complete Roycroft Trade
The minor league right-hander is officially the player to be named later from last month's deal that sent Chris Roycroft to Tampa Bay.
St. Louis has officially received Trey Pooser, a 6'4" right-handed reliever, from Tampa Bay as the PTBNL in the trade that sent Chris Roycroft to the Rays. Pooser was a 10th-round pick in 2024 out of the University of Kentucky and has spent this season across two A-ball levels, posting a 3.44 ERA in 49.2 innings. He profiles as a control-oriented reliever with a 6% walk rate, though his 21% strikeout rate is modest. Roycroft, meanwhile, has struggled since joining Tampa Bay, allowing six runs in eight innings over four appearances.
