The Giants officially designated right-hander Wilkin Ramos for assignment, ending his brief major league stint. Ramos was called up earlier this month after posting a 2.00 ERA in 27 Triple-A innings but struggled badly at the MLB level, surrendering five earned runs in just two innings before being optioned back down. He continued to struggle in Triple-A, allowing nine earned runs in 5.2 innings. The move clears a 40-man roster spot for catcher Drew Cavanaugh, whose addition had been reported earlier in the day.
