Mets Add Jefry Yan to 40-Man, Option Him to Triple-A
Left-hander Jefry Yan earns his first big league roster spot after a long road through multiple organizations and Japan.

The Mets officially selected left-hander Jefry Yan to their 40-man roster, likely triggered by an opt-out or upward mobility clause in his contract. He was simultaneously optioned to Triple-A Syracuse, so he will not appear on the active roster immediately. Yan, 29, has a winding career path that included Tommy John surgery, stints with the Angels and Marlins organizations, a stint in Japan's NPB with the Seibu Lions, and a 2025 minor league deal with the Rockies. The Mets had two open 40-man spots, so no corresponding roster move was required.
