The Royals have released right-handed reliever Justin Topa from their Triple-A Omaha affiliate, per the MiLB transaction log. Topa had signed a minor league deal with Kansas City in early July after being cut by the Twins, where he posted an 8.05 ERA in 19 innings. In 12 2/3 innings with Omaha, Topa allowed just one earned run but continued to show a low strikeout rate of around 14%. He is now a free agent and could attract interest from contending teams seeking bullpen depth.
