Baltimore has traded catcher Adley Rutschman and Jake Rogers to Boston in exchange for catcher Carlos Narváez, right-handed pitchers Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon, teenage center fielder Enddy Azocar, and a PTBNL or cash. Rutschman is currently on the IL with wrist inflammation but is expected to return soon. The Red Sox, who rank near the bottom of the league in catcher WAR and offense, receive a significant upgrade at the position. Rutschman has posted a 115 wRC+ in 284 plate appearances this season and leads the league in caught stealing above average.
