Braves Release Tyler Kinley After DFA
Atlanta cuts ties with the right-hander following a disappointing 2025 season marked by poor peripherals and a high walk rate.

The Braves released right-hander Tyler Kinley after designating him for assignment earlier this week. His release was triggered by the recall of AJ Smith-Shawver, and a trade was not possible given the passed deadline. Kinley had enough service time to reject an outright assignment, so Atlanta opted for release waivers instead. He posted a 4.01 ERA this season but a troubling 5.41 FIP and 11.2% walk rate led to the decision.
