Rodon Makes Rehab Start, Yankees Weigh Piggyback Role on Return
The Yankees lefty threw 48 pitches across 2.2 innings for Triple-A, his first action since elbow inflammation shut him down in late June.
Carlos Rodon made his first rehab appearance Saturday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, tossing 2.2 innings and allowing three runs on three hits while striking out four. The outing was capped at roughly 50 pitches per a plan set by manager Aaron Boone. Rodon was placed on the IL on June 28 after experiencing inflammation in the same left elbow that required surgery before the season. The Yankees have not set a return date and are considering a piggyback role given a full five-man rotation already in place.
