The Giants officially signed catcher Andrew Knizner, who recently opted out of a minor league deal with Boston. He posted a strong .294/.393/.552 line across 234 Triple-A plate appearances this season split between the Rockies and Red Sox affiliates. Knizner fills a void created by injuries to rookies Daniel Susac (patellar fracture) and Jesús Rodríguez (right elbow neuritis). Zach Morgan was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento to make room on the active roster.
