Philadelphia has signed right-hander Casey Lawrence to a minor league deal, assigning him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Lawrence opted out of his Mariners MiLB contract over the weekend after Seattle declined to call him up. He led the minor leagues with 131 2/3 innings this season, posting a 4.37 ERA in 23 starts for Tacoma. The Phillies have struggled to fill their fifth starter role all year and view Lawrence as an innings-eating depth option.
