The Phillies optioned right-hander Andrew Painter to Triple-A on June 17 following a poor stretch in which he allowed more than seven earned runs per nine innings over 65 big league frames. Philadelphia has since been searching the trade market for a fifth starter replacement but has not completed a deal in five weeks. Rookie Alan Rangel has filled the role, starting three of his last five appearances but struggling with a 13-run allowance over just 20.1 innings.
