Skubal Trade Could Be Finalized Before Monday Deadline
League executives expect Detroit to have a tentative deal in place by Monday morning, with LA, Milwaukee, and Tampa Bay leading the pursuit.
ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that executives around the league anticipate the Tigers reaching a tentative agreement on a Tarik Skubal trade by Monday morning, ahead of the 5 PM Central deadline. The Dodgers, Brewers, and Rays are the most frequently connected teams, all sitting atop their respective divisions. Detroit's deteriorating playoff position — 6.5 games back in the AL Central and 4.5 out in the Wild Card — has accelerated trade talks. The Tigers may wait until after Sunday's game to assess their standings before finalizing any deal.
