Taillon Dealt to Blue Jays After Cubs DFA
Chicago completes the trade of struggling starter Jameson Taillon to Toronto for cash or a player to be named later.
The Cubs designated Jameson Taillon for assignment earlier this week and have now officially traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations or a player to be named later. Taillon posted a 5.92 ERA in 2026, also missing nearly six weeks with a hamstring injury. He had been a reliable innings-eater for Chicago in 2024 and 2025 with ERAs of 3.27 and 3.68 respectively. A Cubs-Blue Jays makeup game is scheduled at Wrigley on Thursday, making a Taillon debut against his former team possible.
