Topa fills a vacancy created by Angel Chivilli's IL placement with an elbow issue. The 35-year-old sinkerballer posted a 1.74 ERA in 20.2 Triple-A innings this season after being released by Minnesota in May. His path to the majors depends on further bullpen injuries, as the 40-man roster is currently thin on healthy relievers.
