The Cubs designated Bryse Wilson for assignment and he subsequently went unclaimed on waivers. Rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Iowa, Wilson exercised his right to elect free agency. Wilson had appeared in just two games for Chicago after being claimed off waivers from the Phillies, who had also DFA'd him. His Cubs tenure ended with one strong long-relief outing and one disastrous appearance against St. Louis.
