The Rays are signing right-hander Jake Woodford to a minor league contract, per beat reporter Marc Topkin. Woodford was waived by the Cubs last week and elected free agency. He posted a 7.18 ERA over 26.1 innings across 18 appearances split between Milwaukee and Chicago this season. Tampa Bay plans to use him in a multi-inning role at Triple-A Durham.
