The Padres have agreed to a major league contract with outfielder Austin Hays, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Hays was released by the White Sox on Friday after posting a 50 wRC+ in 44 plate appearances while dealing with hamstring and calf injuries. He has been healthy since recovering from a calf strain that sidelined him from May 1 onward. San Diego ranks 27th in both OPS and wRC+ against left-handed pitchers and has lost righty bats Ramón Laureano (hip surgery) and Miguel Andujar (wrist fracture) this season.
