The Giants designated infielder Buddy Kennedy for assignment on August 27 as a corresponding move when first baseman Bryce Eldridge was reinstated from the bereavement list. Kennedy cleared waivers and chose free agency over an outright Triple-A assignment, a right he holds due to a previous outrighting. The 27-year-old posted a .116/.224/.140 line in his time with San Francisco this season. He is now free to sign with any club.
