Manager Derek Shelton told reporters that Byron Buxton will have arthroscopic surgery on his right hip next Friday, ending his 2026 season. More details on his recovery timeline will follow the procedure, but Shelton indicated Buxton could be ready for the start of the 2027 season. Buxton is currently on the 10-day IL and can be transferred to the 60-day IL when the Twins need the roster spot. In 93 games this season he hit 25 home runs and slashed .254/.319/.511 despite persistent hip trouble.
