The Cardinals officially selected the contract of right-hander Cade Winquest from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday. Winquest, 26, had previously been taken by the Yankees in the Rule 5 Draft but was DFA'd in April without ever appearing in a game. Returned to the Cardinals organization, he posted a 34.8% strikeout rate and 51.1% ground-ball rate in Triple-A. He is expected to make his true MLB debut with St. Louis.
