Clay Holmes to Start Saturday for Cubs After Rehab
The recently traded righty has completed three rehab starts and is ready to rejoin a big-league rotation for Chicago.
The Cubs acquired Clay Holmes from the Mets despite him being on the 60-day IL with a fractured fibula suffered on a comebacker. He has since made three rehab appearances, including a 5 1/3-inning outing on 73 pitches. Manager Craig Counsell confirmed Holmes will start Saturday. Chicago has a 40-man vacancy and will not need a corresponding move unless that spot is filled before then.
