Cora Takes Himself Out of Phillies Manager Race for 2027
With the Phillies still undecided on their managerial future, Alex Cora has informed the club he intends to take next season off.

Alex Cora informed Phillies president Dave Dombrowski that he will not manage in 2027, per USA Today's Bob Nightengale. Cora has little financial incentive to return to the dugout, as the Red Sox — who fired him in April — remain obligated to pay his $7.25MM salary through 2027. Any new managerial salary would be offset against that amount. The Phillies have yet to commit to a manager after Don Mattingly served on an interim basis, guiding the team to a fifth straight playoff berth before a Wild Card Series exit.
