Pavin Smith Outrighted to Triple-A After Clearing Waivers
Arizona's outright assignment of Pavin Smith to Reno is now official, removing the first baseman from the 40-man roster.
The Diamondbacks officially outrighted first baseman Pavin Smith to Triple-A Reno after he cleared waivers following a DFA last week. Smith has the right to elect free agency but would forfeit roughly $900K in remaining 2025 salary by doing so, making it unlikely he exercises that option. A 2017 seventh-overall pick, Smith never fully established himself at the MLB level with Arizona. His removal clears a 40-man roster spot for the Diamondbacks.
