Nick Solak was designated for assignment by the Padres, then outrighted and elected free agency, exercising a right he held from a previous outrighting. He quickly re-signed with San Diego on a new minor league contract and will report to Triple-A El Paso. Solak had been called up briefly when Miguel Andujar went on the 10-day IL with a hamstring strain, logging 10 plate appearances before Andujar was reinstated. At Triple-A this season, Solak had posted strong numbers with a .333/.412/.512 slash line and a 125 wRC+.
