The Reds selected Kent Emanuel's contract from Triple-A Louisville for a single spot start against St. Louis, then designated him for assignment the same day. Emanuel allowed two runs on five hits over his outing before the roster move was announced. He cleared waivers without being claimed and was outrighted back to Louisville. Emanuel accepted the assignment rather than electing free agency.
