Reds DFA Kent Emanuel Hours After Calling Him Up
Emanuel was selected from Triple-A Louisville this morning, made a spot start in a doubleheader, then was immediately designated for assignment.

The Cincinnati Reds selected Kent Emanuel's contract from Triple-A Louisville on the morning of the doubleheader against St. Louis, used him as the starter in Game 1, then designated him for assignment the same day. Emanuel allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four. The move was expected given Emanuel's out-of-options status and the team's need for fresh bullpen arms. RHP Zach Maxwell was recalled from Louisville to fill the roster spot.
