The infield arrangement makes more sense in context. Willy Adames, the Giants' regular shortstop, may be shut down for the remainder of the season after receiving a PRP injection in his elbow, per Slusser's earlier reporting — which helps explain why Koss is at short and the rest of the infield is shuffled accordingly.

Eldridge's presence in the lineup follows his reinstatement from the bereavement list, a move that came alongside the designation of Buddy Kennedy for assignment, per prior reporting.
