Guardians Set to Add RHP Carlos Hernández to 40-Man Roster
Cleveland will select the veteran reliever ahead of September roster expansion, filling a 40-man spot opened by Gabriel Arias's DFA.

The Guardians plan to select right-hander Carlos Hernández onto their major league roster, according to Guardians Prospective and El Extrabase. Hernández, 29, signed a minor league deal with Cleveland and spent the first half of the season on the IL after a serious car accident in January. He returned in early July and made 12 Triple-A appearances, posting a 96.4 mph average fastball. Hernández is out of options and must stay on the MLB roster or be exposed to waivers.
