Gunnar Henderson disclosed to reporters that he dealt with a right wrist injury for approximately half of the 2026 season, a period that coincided with a significant offensive decline. He batted .226/.311/.404 with a wRC+ just 2% above average, well below his 154 wRC+ in 2024. Henderson said surgery will not be required and personally attributed his struggles more to pressing at the plate than to the injury itself. This follows a 2025 shoulder impingement he also played through without an IL stint, raising questions about his durability heading into 2027.
