Marte's D-Backs Future in Doubt After Conduct Issues, Execs Signal Possible Change
Arizona's GM and manager both addressed Marte's status publicly, stopping short of committing to his return amid a third straight missed playoff.
D-Backs GM Mike Hazen publicly questioned whether the current roster mix is right to take the team to the next level, leaving open the door for significant changes including potentially moving Ketel Marte. Manager Torey Lovullo, freshly signed to a two-year extension, said he will no longer shield Marte from accountability. Marte missed a game in August without explanation, was placed on the restricted list, then transferred to the IL with a left knee issue before returning late in the season. Marte holds full no-trade rights, complicating any potential deal.
