The Cubs reinstated 24-year-old infielder/outfielder Matt Shaw from the injured list on Friday. Shaw missed approximately two months with a left-hand sprain and posted a .316 average across five Triple-A rehab games. Outfielder Kevin Alcántara was optioned to Triple-A Iowa in the corresponding roster move. With Dansby Swanson sidelined until at least late September, Shaw could see time at second base alongside Nico Hoerner at shortstop.
