Mets Calling Up Christopher Morel From Triple-A
New York will select Morel's contract from Syracuse prior to Monday's game, requiring both a 26-man and 40-man roster move.

The Mets are set to select Christopher Morel's contract from Triple-A Syracuse before Monday's game against the Padres. Morel signed a minor league deal with New York in late June and has slashed .321/.382/.716 with 12 home runs in 123 plate appearances at Syracuse. A corresponding 26-man roster move is required, with either Cristian Pache or Gabriel Arias likely to be displaced. The Mets owe only prorated league minimum salary, as the Marlins are still covering the remainder of Morel's $2MM guarantee.
