The Phillies confirmed Tuesday that Christian Cairo, designated for assignment over the weekend, was claimed by the division-rival Mets. Cairo, 25, spent the entire 2025 season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley without a major league appearance. He posted a .227/.378/.298 line in 516 plate appearances, showing strong walk rates but minimal power. The Mets had an open 40-man spot after recently DFA'ing reliever Chris Devenski.
